ASE Certified Heavy Duty Truck Mechanic / Repair Technician


Job Responsibilities

As a Heavy Duty Truck Mechanic / Repair Technician, you will be responsible for:

  • Troubleshooting various systems including electrical, drive train, HVAC, brake, engine, and suspension, identifying needed repairs and performing corrective action
  • Writing an accurate, clear, and detailed description of the cause of failure and the repair procedure(s) used
  • Using diagnostic equipment to detect and isolate faults in medium and heavy duty vehicles and interpreting test results
  • Reading written fault description on Repair Order and determining the most efficient repair procedure
  • Communicating with parts department personnel to obtain or order the parts necessary to repair vehicles
  • Performing road test on customer vehicles to assist in problem isolation or to verify repair procedure

Heavy Duty Truck Mechanic / Repair Technician requirements:

  • Formal technical training degree, certificate or diploma, or equivalent work experience
  • ASE Certified in one or more areas
  • Valid driver’s license and CDL
  • Computer literate
  • Ability to read and interpret shop repair order forms, repair manuals, electrical schematics, and various other technical bulletins
